‚Kärnten läuft‘ 2024

Tina Fischl fastest German athlete in the elite field

With fantastic running weather, the organizers were once again able to welcome around 7,000 participants to this year’s edition of ‘Kärnten läuft’ (Carinthia runs) at the various events on beautiful lake Wörthersee.

The highlight of the sports weekend was the half marathon from Velden to Klagenfurt, which featured top athletes from all over the world.

The race started at 9.00 am directly in front of the magnificent castle hotel in Velden at lake Wörthersee.

From the start a very fast pace was set at the front of the field.

In the last few kilometers, which became increasingly tough, Tina Fischl was determined to keep her place and kept the pace high.

Due to the very hot temperatures, however, this was not exactly easy for her.

The finish, at the Metnitzstrand in Klagenfurt, was getting closer and closer. Thousands of spectators cheered loudly along the route.

Only in the last few meters before the finish line did Tina realize that she would finish this incredibly great race as the best German athlete behind the eight fast women from Kenya and the two women from Austria.

After a short rest at the finish line, the runners were overjoyed and jumped into the refreshing waters of lake Wörthersee, following the organizer’s motto ‘Pack your swimsuit and running shoes’.

39th ‚Gäubodenvolkfest‘-run Straubing 2024

Sovereign victory for Tina Fischl on Assumption Day in Straubing

On Assumption Day, endurance specialist Tina Fischl from Fürstenstein made her way to Straubing early in the morning to take part in the 5 km race. The challenge on the predominantly flat, asphalted circuit was not to overdo it on the first few kilometers in the very hot temperatures of more than 30°C.

The experience endurance athlete from WSV Otterskirchen has been in the business long enough and therefore knew exactly how to tackle such a “heat race”.

The starting signal was given shortly after 9.00 am at the FTSV Straubing training grounds, and the runners headed out onto the tartan track and onto a cycle path towards the city center. Fischl set a fast pace right from the start and took the lead in the women’s field. Only two male athletes were ahead of the runner from Fürstenstein at this point. At the turning point after 2.5 km, Fischl realized that the gap to the competition was already quite comfortable. Fischl completed the rest of the course at a very brisk but steady pace, as none of the female runners were able to follow up on her. With a time of 18:40 minutes and a lead of 3 minutes, Tina Fischl finally crossed the finish line at the FTSV Straubing sports grounds overjoyed as first-placed woman to much applause from the spectators.
