Sovereign victory for Tina Fischl on Assumption Day in Straubing
On Assumption Day, endurance specialist Tina Fischl from Fürstenstein made her way to Straubing early in the morning to take part in the 5 km race. The challenge on the predominantly flat, asphalted circuit was not to overdo it on the first few kilometers in the very hot temperatures of more than 30°C.
The experience endurance athlete from WSV Otterskirchen has been in the business long enough and therefore knew exactly how to tackle such a “heat race”.
The starting signal was given shortly after 9.00 am at the FTSV Straubing training grounds, and the runners headed out onto the tartan track and onto a cycle path towards the city center. Fischl set a fast pace right from the start and took the lead in the women’s field. Only two male athletes were ahead of the runner from Fürstenstein at this point. At the turning point after 2.5 km, Fischl realized that the gap to the competition was already quite comfortable. Fischl completed the rest of the course at a very brisk but steady pace, as none of the female runners were able to follow up on her. With a time of 18:40 minutes and a lead of 3 minutes, Tina Fischl finally crossed the finish line at the FTSV Straubing sports grounds overjoyed as first-placed woman to much applause from the spectators.
